Experience:
Kate Tinkler is an Associate Partner, Communication and Culture, at Omera Partners. She is a familiar presence across the firm's three offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, known for the positivity and sense of humour she brings to the business. This time, we put the questions to Kate.
What is your role at Omera Partners and what brought you to executive search?
“Mine is an internal facing role. I lead our fabulous admin team, manage the marketing strategy for Omera Partners, and look after internal communications, from company updates to our internal newsletter, alongside organising our companye vents. I joined an executive search firm twelve years ago and found that it played to my strengths, being strong communication skills and a genuine focus on client and candidate care, while satisfying my appetite for being at the forefront of corporate change. I have been with Omera Partners for nine years.”
What does your role span across the firm, and what does it take to keep Omera Partners' voice and culture strong?
“My role reaches right across the firm. I work closely with our Partners on our externa voice, drafting our insights, announcements and case studies that carry Omera Partners into the market. On the internal side, my focus is our culture and the people who make the firm what it is. Keeping our voice and culture strong comes down to supporting the business professionally while ensuring that any issues are ironed out quickly before they grow.”
What do candidates, clients and colleagues experience when they work with you?
“Omera Partners prides itself on client and candidate care, and we extend that same care to one another, treating our colleagues as clients too. My colleagues have come to expect a positive outlook and a ‘can do’ attitude from me. I am proactive by nature, and I genuinely enjoy partnering with colleagues on new initiatives and bringing them to life.”
What do you most enjoy about working at Omera Partners, and what are you most proud of in your work?
“The vibe. We have three busy offices that thrive on activity, and with around 40 team members, no two days are ever the same. I thrive on that positivity and energy. Having moved from an executive assistant role, to a search associate, and then into my internal role, I have seen many different facets of the business. What I am most proud of is our internal newsletter, which has become something of an institution. People genuinely like to contribute to each issue, which makes my job easy. I am also proud of lifting our marketing strategy to where it is today.”
“Greatnessis found when you enjoy what you do, and thrive in seeing others enjoy and do well in their role.”
What does life look like outside the office?
“Buy the renovator's delight, they said, it will be fun! When I am not on the Pilates reformer, you will find me scraping, sanding or painting my 1910 weatherboard cottage. And when I finally down tools, I love nothing more than the company of family and friends, usually over a good glass of Shiraz.”
